Virtual reality game for all major platforms
In a world without traffic lights, one reigns supreme. Step onto the crossroads as the world's worst traffic controller to keep traffic flowing in the face of outrageous events and flagrant road rage.
Traffic Jams is a virtual reality game by Little Chicken Game Company released on 5 major VR platforms. The game is produced by Vertigo Games, making them our partner in this project. The player plays as Danny, a lousy traffic controller hired to fix the chaos that Dennis, the antagonist, has caused to the world of traffic. With your gloves and walkman equipped you take on the smaller crossings located in Gouda and Paris but also famous places such as Times Square in New York and Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo.
The game not only includes an elaborate single player that will last you multiple hours, but also a companion app in which your friends can control traffic from their mobile phones. In this crazy mode you as a VR-player work together to reach the highest scores. The multiplayer app is built with React and uses Socket.IO for communication.
My role within this project has been a hybrid of developer and product owner from the start. During the pre-production and production phases my main task was to guide my team into working out prototypes and testing game design as efficiently as possible. In the last phase my main role has been product ownership to guarantee communication between external parties and my team to push for a complete and simultaneous release of the game for all platforms.
